No School Today…

family-pics-2006-02.jpgToday was a wonderful day for me as a Mom. I don’t get a lot of time to myself as a work at home mom with 3 children at home. Eric is 15, Charlie is 7 and Sydney is 4. Today there was no school for the kids and that meant that Eric was able to babysit and I could take some time for “me” today. It was a perfect day for it too. It was sunny and in the upper 30’s. The snow was turning to slush. I had scheduled a hair appointment for 11 AM and then a leg wax this afternoon. After that, I went shopping, some window shopping and some layaway shopping and some actual purchases too. I arrived home in time to make dinner for them all but it was the most precious day I have had in a long time. Just so you all don’t think I am terrible mom, this is how my week has gone. Sunday morning I woke up at 6:30 AM and ran to the bathroom, not sure if I was going to puke or worse. Both Sydney and I had picked up a stomach virus of some kind and were sick for a couple days.

Monday was not fun. Eric had a choir concert on Monday night and I wanted his hair cut before he went but he decided he was going to take a stand on this one and refused. So my husband and my 7 year old went and got their hair cuts instead and my husband refused to go to the concert if Eric refused to cut his hair. I felt terrible that I was too sick to go. Eric ended up walking to the concert and the rest of us stayed home. :( That was Monday.

Tuesday, Sydney was feeling better, so we went to her dance class and things seemed pretty normal. However Wednesday, the preschool called me and told me that she had gotten sick (diarrhea of all things) and that I should come pick her up. So I spent the rest of the day with Sydney.

The boys were out of school early on Thursday. Thursday night Chuck went to work and came home sick (not the same virus we have had but something entirely different, not sure what).

And then today (Friday), I finally got some time to myself. However, during the week, I have been working on mission organization, laundry, taxes and all sorts of other things for my business, Amy’s Office. Chuck worked on shampooing carpets earlier in the week on his days off, which was really great but he worked on it so late at night that it was hard to get any sleep with all the noise. Our landlady called this week and decided to inform us that she is raising the rent by $25/month. She also had our dishwasher checked out and this is a great thing for us since the one we were using was very old and apparently could have burned our house down with the bad wiring. So, we will be getting a new dishwasher very soon. It was a really busy crazy sort of week and I hope that everyone starts feeling better soon and things mellow out a little for all of us.

Oh, and in the middle of all this, Eric informed me that he has a new girlfriend named Cat.

I am now looking forward to a relaxing weekend with the family. :)
